Experience the wild Bull Sharks of Bimini in our specially built Shark Cage at the Bimini Big Game Club Marina Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina is part of the “Shark Free Marina Initiative”. We do not allow any Sharks to be caught or brought into our Marina. Shark Fishing is in fact illegal in the Bahamas. Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina wants to ensure our Guests be safe while in the Marina and discourage swimming of any type in the Marina for many obvious reasons. Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina has partnered with Shark experts and Conservationists to provide a safe and enjoyable experience in viewing the incredible creatures in their own environment. Guests do not have to be certified Scuba to do the experience. Air is provided by a “Hooka” system so all you need is your mask, put the regulator in your mouth and dip down into the Cage for a lifetime experience! A percentage of proceeds go to Shark Conservation along with an Annual Banquet/Fundraiser to assist Conservation, Education and Research even more! This turns into a win/win for the Sharks AND Tourists in this experience!
For the people that want to enjoy our Shark encounters in the open water away from the channel and Marina. Bimini Big Game Club PADI Dive Center offers a Shark encounter with our expert PADI Dive instructor.
Bimini is shark diving central, we have more species of sharks closer to our docks then anywhere else in the Bahamas. We're both a shark divers paradise and film and television production hub with full production support for filming sharks (hotlink to BBR film page). In just 20 minutes you can be diving with Great Hammerheads (Sphyrna mokarran), Reef Sharks (Carcharhinus perezi), Lemon Sharks (Negaprion brevirostris) and more.
At the Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina we now offer cage diving with resident Bull Sharks (Carcharhinus leucas) right in our marina at Bimini Bull Run (hot link). Not only will you have the opportunity interact with these majestic animals, but you do not have to be diver certified to do it and you'll learn first-hand about shark research and conservation efforts underway in Bimini with the dedicated folks at Bimini's very own Shark Lab (hot link) as well as other conservation minded organizations.
The Shark Lab engages in some of the most pioneering research on the biology of sharks. And the population of sharks in and around the waters of Bimini keeps them plenty busy. Big Game Club has become dedicated to educating the public on the plight of these apex predators from illegal harvesting for shark-fin soup. We believe that positive, safe encounters with sharks, help dispel the myths of sharks and educate future generations to the need to protect them.
Tiger Sharks ( Galeocerdo cuvier) are also common in the shallow waters just offshore of Bimini. Reaching lengths in excess of 16 feet, most individual tigers encountered by divers will range between 8 and 12 feet in length. We offer individually tailored Shark Week programs to groups of photographers and dive clubs from around the world. We're the only dive center in the Bahamas where you can dive with sharks just off shore all day and then jump in a cage at sunset to see Bull Sharks before calling it a very busy shark day.
Come experience the thrill of Bimini shark diving. See first-hand the incredible majesty of these wonderful animals. The Bimini Big Game Resort & Marina will make sure you go home....safely....and with memories to last a lifetime!
